Ah the joys of computing and motion graphic design. You need computers to make a living these days but they can just as much ruin your life if they crash when you are least expecting it. My macbook pro imploded it’s hard drive on the easter long weekend and despite my best efforts there is STILL data that I just don’t get to keep. Oh well, this time is not going to kill me but I can’t imagine how much of a pain in the *ss it would be if I hadbn’t have backed up just days before. I think it will be better when manufacturers can stop thinking about speeds all the time and start thinking about reliability. I can’t wait until I have a flash hdd with no moving parts that sits in my computer meaning there is no boot time and even better no read/write head failures as they spin around at 7200rpm. I could handle a mere 160GB drive if it meant that I would never lose the data on it and my laptop didn’t cook my thighs every time I used it where it meant forĀ  – the lap. (I know the processor is making most the heat, but hey the HDD is still contributing)

Anyway, moral of the story – backup backupo backup
